Save and restore a comparison

Keep a useful calculation without creating an account.

Reviewed Oct 27, 2026

Save a named comparison

Calculate a valid tire or wheel comparison, choose Save, and enter a name you will recognize, up to 120 characters. In persistent mode, a successful message means the project was written to this browser’s storage for this site. In temporary mode, the message identifies an in-memory save. The saved list shows the name and input details so you can recognize the calculation.

The collection supports up to 100 projects. If the limit is reached, export a JSON backup before deciding which saved items to remove. Saving a calculation does not create an account or a server copy.

Open the project from Saved calculations

Choose a saved item to restore its input values and settings. Review which size or wheel is Original before interpreting the percentage or position change. Editing the active calculation does not turn the original public size page into a private project page.

Delete only what you intend to remove

Use the item’s Delete action to remove it from the local list. Undo restores the most recent deletion while that action remains available; it is not a full history or a recovery service. If the browser’s site data has been cleared, recovery requires a JSON backup you previously downloaded.

Use temporary mode when persistence is unnecessary

Temporary mode keeps project changes in the current tab’s memory and avoids persistent project writes. The work can be lost when that page is closed or reloaded. Download JSON before leaving if you need an editable copy later.

Returning to persistent mode reloads the saved browser collection. Export temporary work before switching back if you want to preserve it. Theme preferences are separate from project storage; temporary project mode is not a promise that every browser preference is erased.

If storage is unavailable

Private browsing settings, denied storage access or a full quota may prevent a save. TireSpan reports the failure instead of claiming success. Continue with the current calculation and download a JSON backup, CSV, SVG or PDF. Changing a browser setting is optional; downloading a file does not require a successful local save.

If another tab has changed the collection

A write conflict means the stored collection changed after this tab read it. The application prevents the stale tab from silently overwriting those changes. Download any current work you need to keep, then refresh the saved collection before trying again.

Move a comparison between browsers

Export JSON in the first browser. In the second, import the file and review each project’s name, type and inputs. Select the entries you want to restore. Merge retains the existing collection and leaves matching saved copies unchecked by default; you can explicitly select one to add another copy. Replace instead replaces the current collection with the selected file entries. This is a file transfer you control, with no account synchronization or background upload.
