Import and export
Choose an editable backup, a data table or a finished report.

Choose the right file
JSON stores the versioned project inputs and settings for restoration. CSV presents the calculation as a table with stable identifiers, numeric values and explicit units. SVG contains a scalable diagram. PDF contains a print-ready report. Only JSON is intended to restore an editable project.
Review a JSON import before adding it
Choose a project file, then inspect each project’s name, type and original inputs in the import review. Select the entries you want to restore. Choosing a file alone does not change the current collection; calculated results are recomputed when an imported project is opened.
Merge keeps existing entries. An item with the same name and input/settings state as a saved item is unchecked by default; explicitly select it if you want another copy. An incoming item with an existing ID but different content is added with a new ID when selected. Replace is a separate, explicit choice: it replaces the current collection with the selected entries from the file. Check both the selection and the mode before confirming.
Files identify the application as TireSpan and use schema version 1. The import limit is 1 MiB (1,048,576 bytes) and 100 projects; merging must also stay within the 100-project collection limit. Project names accept up to 120 characters. Names are treated as ordinary text, even when they contain markup or spreadsheet-like characters.
Handle a damaged or newer file
A damaged JSON file, unsupported schema version, invalid dimension or excessive file size is rejected before changing saved projects. For a newer schema, keep the original file and use a compatible TireSpan version. Do not edit a version number simply to force acceptance; the underlying data may differ.
Open CSV as a data table
The CSV retains decimal-point machine values and a unit column. Human-readable labels may follow the page language while stable field IDs remain unchanged. User-entered text is escaped so a name beginning with a spreadsheet formula character is not exported as an executable formula.
Use SVG as a self-contained diagram
The SVG includes its dimensions, viewBox and textual labels. It does not depend on remote images or scripts. Scaling the file preserves vector lines; the figures still describe nominal geometry and do not become physical templates or fitment drawings.
If generation or saving fails
The export dialog reports a failure and offers a retry without removing the current calculation. Try a different format if needed. Check the actual downloaded file before relying on it; a browser may ask for a destination or apply its own download policy.
