Choosing a print-friendly comparison report

A useful printout keeps the inputs, results and limitations together.

Choose the format for the next task

Use a PDF when you need a readable page that travels as one document. Use SVG when the dimension drawing needs to remain scalable. Use CSV when another calculation or spreadsheet is the next step. JSON is the editable project backup; it is not the print layout.

Match the paper before downloading

A4 is 210 × 297 mm. US Letter is 8.5 × 11 inches. Select the format in the export dialog before generating the PDF. Both report layouts retain the same values and method. A screen theme does not change the report’s need for clear black-on-white print contrast.

Keep the reference obvious

The report identifies Original and New alongside their markings. This matters because percentage and theoretical-speed calculations depend on the original reference. If you swap in the tool, generate a new report. Do not relabel an old report while keeping its previous percentages.

Make the assumptions travel with the numbers

The useful content is the inputs, the common-scale diagram, the main dimension rows, the selected speed examples and the nominal-geometry note. Advertising, navigation and screen controls do not belong on the printed report. The absence of a safety badge is deliberate: the report describes geometry.

Review the downloaded file

Open the actual file before sharing or printing. Check that both sizes, the selected units and the intended paper format are present. If a download fails, keep your comparison open and retry or use another format. A successful file download is different from a printer successfully producing a page.
